New time slot for Spring 2013

Flight of the Squawkatiel has moved to a new time slot for the spring semester. Tune in every Saturday from 6-8 pm for the latest episode. I will still be bringing you one hour of new music, followed by an hour of music from my collection. My first show will be on February 2nd and the theme will be "Remixes and Mashups". Listen to it on 90.1 WRUV FM Burlington, VT, where you can stream it live here or listen to the most recent show here.

New album from This Town Needs Guns: 13.0.0.0.0

This Town Needs Guns are a math-rock band from the U.K. whose debut album, Animals, was one of my favorite releases from 2009. They return with their sophomore album, 13.0.0.0.0, which will be released this Tuesday. In the time between albums, their original singer, Stuart Smith, left the band and has been replaced by a new vocalist, Henry Tremain. Luckily, they return with another strong album that expands on their work on Animals. You can stream the full album below, courtesy of Purevolume.com. First Rate People is an indie pop group out of Toronto that mixes elements of folk, r&b, dance, and even reggae into their music. They have released much of their work for free download, including their latest single, "You Won't Get This Joke at All". This is the first song they've released from their forthcoming debut full-length album that will be out later this year.

It's the end of another year and that means it's time to bring you the list of my favorite songs of 2012! I spent much of this year catching up on music I had from last year that I hadn't listened to, so I didn't get to listen to as much of this year's new music as I would have liked.
