Soundcloud Artist of the Week: Dog & Panther

Each week, I will be featuring an unsigned/independent artist that I discovered on Soundcloud. I will play a song from them during the new music hour at 6:30 on my show that week, and will write a bit more about them here.

Dog & Panther is a group out of Michigan. They have a very melodic indie sound that combines guitars with electronic beats, and are recommended if you like Freelance Whales, The Postal Service, or Band of Horses. Their most recent album is Our Bodies which was released in February. Here is a track from it called "One Piece" which is available for free download:

Soundcloud Artist of the Week: Lavers

Each week, I will be featuring an unsigned/independent artist that I discovered on Soundcloud. I will play a song from them during the new music hour at 6:30 on my show that week, and will write a bit more about them here.

Lavers is a band from Canberra, Australia who play the kind of classic power pop made famous by bands such as The Beatles and The Beach Boys, but with a more fresh, modern style reminiscent of The Shins or Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin. 

They just released their latest single, "I've Been Waiting For You", which you can listen to below and download for free. They will be releasing a new album later this year.

Soundcloud Artist of the Week: Remove Silence

Each week, I will be featuring an unsigned/independent artist that I discovered on Soundcloud. I will play a song from them during the new music hour at 6:30 on my show that week, and will write a bit more about them here.

Remove Silence is a band from Sau Paulo, Brazil. They have a progressive rock/industrial sound that really caught my attention. If Steven Wilson from Porcupine Tree and Trent Reznor from Nine Inch Nails formed a band together, it might sound something like Remove Silence.

DJ of the Month/Squawk Tunes April 2013

Congratulations to Beach House on winning Squawkatiel Madness 2013! It was close, but in the end they beat The Strokes by just one vote.
